Solid Brass Stair Nosings

Solid Brass Nosings & Antique Brass Nosings provide a stylish alternative to aluminium nosings. Typical installations of brass nosings include theatres, museums, public houses and listed buildings where traditional design is specified.

Polished brass has historically been the finish of choice though antique brass and antique bronze are becoming increasingly popular. The antique bronze nosings create a subtle aged effect that pairs perfectly with period decor. Satin brass is a relatively new finish for this profile range and offers a softer, matt finish without the high level of reflectiveness that polished brass can create.

FAQs

Do you produce matching brass stringer angles?

CAT manufacture two brass stingers with product codes BT35 & BT50. These profiles are available in our four signature brass finishes and both are available in either 90 degrees or raked back at 83 degrees.

How do I maintain Solid Brass Nosings?

Please Click Here to View our Brass Nosing Maintenance Guide which details the requirements for individual finishes such as antique brass and polished brass.

Are your Brass Stair Nosings Slip Resistant?

All our stair edgings are independently tested for slip resistance (SRV's) using the pendulum 4S method. This test provides a PTV rating with any figure over 36 categorised as low slip potential. In the wet, our ribbed brass nosings pass this test with a PTV of 45 and dry pass with a PTV of 73.

What are Antique Brass Nosings?

Antique Brass Nosings are solid brass stair nosings that are aged by hand using a special liquid formula. Skilled personnel then use various processes to obtain the desired colour, finish and uniformity. Please note that these finishes are not foot-traffic resistant and are designed to create an aged, unpolished effect.
